Heroes CORE program

Heroes CORE program is the perfect way to provide thorough healthy living education to children in care. Choose 4-8 topics to create your service's personalised program. 

At a glance

Duration: 50 minutes per session, per week. Choose up to 8 weeks (topics below)

Suitability: Minimum 10 children, up to 25 children a session

​

Age: 3-6 years

​

Your service will receive a Certificate of Participation as will each child who attends.

This program directly relates to Standard 2.1

Health - Each child’s health and physical activity is supported and promoted.

 

Element 2.1.3 states ‘Healthy eating and physical activity are promoted and appropriate for each child’

Links to EYLF

Each incursion works in line with the EYLF and supports the outcomes of each child BELONGING, BEING and BECOMING.

EYLF Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity. Children will become more aware of healthy food choices and will experience pride, confidence and self-awareness.

EYLF Outcome 3: Children have a strong sense of wellbeing. This program encourages children to take increased responsibility for their own health and wellbeing.

Experience the fun of the our “Mystery Box” as we dive into the colourful world of fruits and vegetables and learn about the super-powers each food gives our bodies

Smart Sippers

Launch into the fun of learning! Healthy drinks and the wonders of water are explored with the help of Wanda Watermelon.

Curious Sprouts

Put on your farmer's hats and let's get learning! Children learn about where our food comes from and the life cycle of food.

Mini Food Scientists

Put on your science goggles and delve into the magic of food science! This hands-on session is a favourite.

Let's get Moving (FMS 1)

Children need a lot of exposure and practice to learn the Fundamental Movement Skills. This session focusses on bringing the fun to striking a stationary ball, stationary dribbling and skipping.

Children need a lot of exposure and practice to learn the Fundamental Movement Skills. This session focusses on bringing the fun to galloping, underarm throw and kicking.

Children need a lot of exposure and practice to learn the Fundamental Movement Skills. This session focusses on bringing the fun to catching, overarm throw and leaping.

Learning Outcomes

Each child who attends a Healthy Little Heroes incursion will work towards achieving the following:
  • Developing a strong sense of wellbeing

  • Becoming confident and involved learners

  • Becoming effective communicators

  • Cooperating and working collaboratively with others

  • Being open to new challenges and discoveries

  • Showing an increasing awareness of healthy lifestyles and good nutrition

  • Being curious and enthusiastic participants in their learning
